FTF Inova - Cultiva Market Intelligence


The agriculture sector is still in its infancy in Mozambique, with agri dealers struggling to irk out an existence. The Market Systems Approach is still under development, but up till now no real actionable intel was available. Working in a joint project with the NGO FTF Inova and co-funding from USAID, Tangerine introduced its Cultiva market intelligence system. The field work required a dedicated team to visit agri-dealers in the farming sectors of Chimoio and Nampula. Over a three month pilot, the teams captured data on demographics, brand availability, pricing and activations on behalf of four major in-put manufacturers. Monthly reports presented market intel, the depth of which has never been seen before in the sector, ensuring lasting relationship to be kindled.
